ICE Tower Kit

The ICE Tower Kit is a complete cooling upgrade: tower heatsink, 40 mm Noctua fan, 3D-printed ASIC bracket with a 4-pin mount, thermal paste, four mounting pins and a PWM Y-splitter cable. You unpack it, swap it over and you are done – without a missing part halfway through.

The tower gives the ASIC considerably more surface than the stock cooling. The same heat spreads across more fins, so the fan has less work to do. That is exactly what buyers describe: better cooling and quieter than before.

• Complete instead of a parts hunt: paste, bracket, pins and Y-splitter are included – no second order.
• Noctua instead of a bundled fan: the 40 mm fan runs quietly and still follows your board’s fan curve.
• More even temperatures: more mass dampens the swings between idle and full load.
• Headroom above: if you want to overclock moderately, this provides the thermal buffer for it.

The board usually has one fan header. The included PWM Y-splitter cable divides it so you can run two fans – for example the Noctua on the tower and a second one for airflow in the case. Control stays with the board: both follow the same curve.

The kit is intended for Bitaxe and Nerdaxe models, for example the Bitaxe Gamma. It does not fit:

• NerdQaxe models such as the NerdQaxe++
• NerdOctaxe models

For everyone whose miner lives in a living room and who wants it cooler and quieter without collecting the parts individually. The tower builds upwards, so the footprint stays narrow.

It is less of a fit if you are after maximum headroom for permanent overclocking – then the ICE Tower Low Profile kit is the more consistent choice. If only the fan noise bothers you, swapping the fan alone is often enough.

Nothing beyond the kit: thermal paste, bracket and fasteners are included. Clean the contact surface before applying the paste and make sure the heatsink sits flat. Once the miner is back online, compare temperature and fan speed in the dashboard with the values from before. • Noctua NF-A4x20 as a second 40 mm fan on the Y-splitter or as a replacement.
• Copper heatsinks for the voltage regulators the tower cooler does not cover.
• Cooling with all the other parts around airflow and temperature.

The ICE Tower Kit is the most straightforward cooling upgrade for Bitaxe and Nerdaxe: one package, one swap, and afterwards lower temperatures and a fan that spins up less often.
