NerdQaxe Performance Case: an open enclosure with clear airflow
The NerdQaxe Performance Case is a three-part PLA enclosure designed for the NerdQaxe. The three parts are screwed into one unit with the included M3 screws: the miner sits firmly, the ports stay reachable and the build stands as a single piece on a desk, shelf or in a rack.
The difference to a closed case is deliberate. Large openings at the front and sides let warm air escape instead of letting it collect around the heatsink – and there is room for two additional fans at the rear.
Why an open case?
- Air instead of a wall: the large openings prevent the ASIC’s heat from gathering inside the enclosure.
- A second cooling layer: 2 × 60 mm fans can be fitted at the rear, for example the Noctua NF-A6x15.
- Cables in channels: side cable channels route power and fan cables without laying them across the airflow.
- A firm fit: three precisely fitting parts and M3 screws instead of loosely stacked plates.
What the case can do – and what it cannot
An open enclosure improves airflow, but it insulates nothing. If your NerdQaxe is too loud for you, the case will not change that; that comes down to fan curve and fan choice.
The two 60 mm rear fans are not included. Plan for them if you run higher performance profiles permanently. At stock settings many setups get along without extra fans – as described by customers who run the case exactly that way.
Who the Performance Case is for
For continuous operation and for everyone who wants to build their NerdQaxe properly into their setup: a firm build, routed cables, free ports. And for everyone who adjusts frequency and voltage and needs temperature headroom for it.
It is less of a fit if all you need is a stand. Then the NerdQaxe mount is the cheaper and simpler solution. And if you are after silence, the money is better spent on fans and cooling surface.
What you need to assemble it
Case and M3 screws come in the box, and you need a screwdriver. The easiest moment is right when setting up the NerdQaxe. Take a few minutes and lay the cables into the channels before tightening the last part – otherwise you will be redoing it. Optionally add two 60 mm fans and their power supply.

Läuft zuverlässig
Für mein Homelab war das genau die passende Ergänzung. Die offene Bauweise ist für die Kühlung deutlich sinnvoller als ein enges Gehäuse. Das gesamte Setup sieht jetzt wesentlich aufgeräumter aus. Kann ich anderen Bitcoin-Bastlern empfehlen.
