What is a NerdQaxe?
The NerdQaxe series is the four-chip class among open-source miners. It is developed by shufps on the basis of the Bitaxe project: four Bitmain BM1370 ASICs sit on one board, controlled by an ESP32-S3 running the open firmware NerdOS, an offshoot of AxeOS. You operate the miner in the browser, with no account and no cloud; hashrate, temperature and best difficulty are also shown on the 1.9-inch display on the device.
NerdQaxe++, Hydro or Copper Pro?
- NerdQaxe++: about 4.8 TH/s at around 80 W with a 92 mm fan, the price-performance point of the series.
- NerdQaxe++ Hydro: the same four chips under water, about 6 TH/s at 100 W and quieter in a living space.
- NerdQaxe Copper Pro: full copper heatsink and two PWM fans for continuous operation and overclocking, about 4.8 TH/s out of the box.
All three run on a 12 V power supply with 10 A. How they hold up in continuous operation is in the NerdQaxe++ review. More hashrate on a single board comes from the NerdOctaxe with eight chips.
Setup and pool
Setup takes a few minutes in the browser: join the Nerdaxe_XXXX Wi-Fi, enter your home Wi-Fi, pool and your own Bitcoin address. The NerdQaxe setup guide shows every step. For solo mining we recommend our Bitaxe Pool with 0 % fee. The mining calculator works out what a NerdQaxe costs in power and how high its block chance is.
